Phyton Attack

This is what we found first thing this morning

A phyton killed, then tried to swallow this young sheep ewe in the pen last night.

Obviously it was quite a large snake to have been able to kill this size lamb, but it couldn't manage to swallow the 6 month old lamb.

You can see from the slime on it's head and neck, where the snake gave up and regurgitated the lamb.

Poor thing, what a horrible, horrible way to die and that for nothing...

The End

  4. You have stunned me once again. I thought this photo was bad but I would have hated to see the snake/monster. How DO you leave your house?

    1. Hey Michaele, I am hoping we would be able to put up some sort of security camera there, this snake likes to stalk that particular pen,it is close to his/her hidey hole...Those cameras are terribly expensive though,we will see what we can come up with..We are guessing it is 6m long judging from the size of the tracks and came to the conclusion that perhaps the snake was interrupted in it's meal(perhaps by the dogs living outside) instead of the lamb being to big for it!

  5. Pythons have to eat too, of course, but this is just so tragic. It was so good to see you on my blog again after all this time. I couldn't imagine living with all the critters you have to share you space with, dear Liesl. Happy New Year to you and your family.

  6. As you say what a waste, if the python had swallowed it at least it would have meant that it would not have been back for more food in a hurry. Hopefully it will find somewhere else for its next feed.
Happy New Year to you and your family may 2013 be a good one for you. Diane

    1. Oh I forgot to ask, pythons are royal game are they not and you should not kill them. Maybe rules have changed tho over the years.

    2. Hi Dianne, yes,as far as I know they are royal game. My husband absolutely loves them pythons! He catches them and release them on Game farms far away from us if he manages to find one on or near the yard or in the act of eating something on the yard.
