The Mystery Of The Day Flying Bats

Yesterday the bats were out in force again in broad daylight! But this time it was a lovely cool day and if I were a bat,I'd be hanging around with my blanky wrapped about me, catching some shuteye,

                                                                              like this...

He wasn't hanging around, peeking into my kitchen like that for no reason...

And they weren't all lined up lying around waiting to lay eggs like I thought they were....

Like she was indeed doing...

....because there was a hawk lurking around hunting and flushing the bats out of the trees and then scooping down to catch them! He was hopping from tree to tree flushing out the bats and I didn't have my camera on me!

Meanwhile the ducks I got the other day have been ever so obliging and have layed two eggs so far!

I Got Goats!

This morning early hubby went and bought a couple of goats, which he got for a song. Two males, which will be sold on shortly and two ewes. The older ewe has twins (female) and the other, the cutest little male baby. They are Boer goat crosses. So now I have goats milk! I see cheese(especially cottage cheese),butter (can one make butter out of goats milk) I will be mailing Suzanne from "Chickens In The Road " shortly with lots of questions! They were dewormed before Cules off loaded them....

Mozambique

My sis-in-law invited us to their beach cabin in Mozambique last year,in the end only the two girls went as we couldn't leave the farm and animals unattended. The girls were spoilt rotten by them and enjoyed themselves to the point of exhaustion. It is a beautiful country, and very popular holiday destination once again. The closest border post is about a four hour drive from where we live. There are too many pics to choose from, but here are some....

Cerulean Blue

Just like in the movies..

Who wants to go sailing in a bright blue and red boat?

This used to be a five star hotel before the war..

Sand dunes

We missed you too!

Love you!

The girls were so glad to see the Colonel does business in Mozzies too!

Bats Gone Batty

It is extremely hot today and I have the air conditioner on in my kitchen. It is 2:00 pm and the bats keep on flying themselves into the glass sliding doors trying to get into the nice cool cave I suppose. At first I thought it was birds but it was kinda consistent for that so I sat and waited a bit and four of them have fallen down onto the floor so far! They seem to be disorientated and panting a lot... All lay still for a couple of seconds and then flew off again.I am sure it is the heat....

Flyfishing Anyone? Part Three

So I start to make my way around the dam, enjoying the breathtaking scenery...

Those are the overnight cottages hidden amongst the trees....

I can't explain why, but I really, really didn't like the feel I got around these blue gum trees,I generally hate them, just a pet hate of mine I guess...

Looking back over my shoulder I see hubby still happily casting away...and came across them...

I so enjoyed their gentle bleating, I sat down and watched them for quite a while. Some were curious and came quite close. Being there made me feel happy...

After a while I walked on and saw this...and this....

Then I bumped into my daughters who were having a great time exploring around and they joined me in my quest for shade as it was getting hot by then

Oh s#%t Ma! These lone Blesbuck males are known to attack people especially during the mating season..it was mating season....!!!

So it does this funny little jump thingy..and I tripped over my feet trying to get away before it gets me.....

Sorry about the quality of the shot...And because I was enjoying all of that and because my daughters and I hid in the shady spot until the buck was way out of sight,I don't have a single pic of a trout fish to show you!!
Cules got three and released them back into the dam as it was so freaking expensive buying them!
So I asked him how his day was.."Fun,but my arm hurts from all that casting, they really expect you to do a lot of practising you know!.....OK,what are we going to do now?  Him  "We are going to find a pub.."

Fly Fishing Anyone? Part Two

There's a chubby little women rolling  down the hill! Let's get outta here!

                                                                                   D;))

Cules and his coach for the day starts scouting for trout....
How does this one look?  Naaa...OK let's move on to the next dam..

But why won't this dam work? You all are doing an awful lot of walking up and down...aren't you suppose to just sit yourselves down and start catching fish.....?

This one looks promising!  OK

While Cules is practising his casting I'm enjoying the spectacular scenery.....
Then I get to thinking...
There's no shade here next to the water.....

Dear Lord, I hope they don't plan on walking all the way to those dams!

Ah! There's a nice shady spot, it is all the way  round on the other side of the dam,but what the heck, the walk would help pass the time right...??

Part 3  Coming Soon...
